In Memory of Jim Gaito...

We at The Ol' Country Barn lost a great friend and "family" member today.
The world is a sadder place with the loss of Jim Gaito.
I am sure that most, if not all of you, know Jimmy. You may not know him by name, many knew him as "The Candle Man". Jim was the maker of Jim's Homemade Candles which have been sold in the shop for more years than I can remember.
He was a wonderful man with a huge heart. He would have done anything for just about anyone. Although he is gone, he will never, ever, be forgotten.
His memory will live on through all of us!
I know he will always be in our hearts!

Winter is here!

(No... this is not a recent photo of snow on Fritz Hill! No need to worry about driving in this just yet!)

...and that means, it's almost time for us to close for the cold winter season!

BUT! There's still time! Come out and do your last minute Christmas shopping with us on Saturday and Sunday! There's some great new merchandise in the shop and you'll always be able to find that unique and perfect gift for everyone on your list with us!

We'll be closing the shop down for the season after this weekend.

2010 Pumpkin Festival Door Prize Winners

Every year we have a free door prize drawing at the Pumpkin Festival. Entrants do not need to be present to win. This year was no different.

Festival: Thank you! And planning ahead for next year...

Well... another year's festival goes down in the books!

Thank you so much to everyone who assisted with the Festival, who set up as vendors, who came to shop, or those who just came to say "hello!" We couldn't continue with this great tradition without each and every one of you!

For those who may want to mark it down already, the big 25th Annual Pumpkin Festival will be October 15 and 16, 2011! We've already looking ahead and doing some planning for this big celebration and tradition in the area!!

Pumpkin Festival starts TOMORROW!

The 24th Annual Pumpkin Festival will be held tomorrow and Sunday, October 16th & 17th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. It will be held rain or shine (but let's hope for shine!!!!!)


As always, there will be free parking, free admission, and free hayrides (with the option to pick a pumpkin for a minimal fee from our pumpkin patch). There will also be great food, unique crafts, fantastic antiques, beautiful jewelry, and so much more!


Call your friends, neighbors, and relatives and plan a trip to Fritz Hill to see the beautiful leaves and do some shopping!

And for anyone who attends, make sure you bring your camera to get some great shots of your family and friends in the beautiful foliage! And if you'd like to share those photos with us, please email them to us at olcountrybarn@yahoo.com! With your permission, your photo might be shared on our blog and our Facebook page!

PUMPKIN FESTIVAL TIME!

159th Annual Sullivan County Fair

Time to get ready for the 159th Annual Sullivan County Fair in Forksville, PA!!! We'll have a stand set up there each day of the Fair!!

It begins on Tuesday August 31st with a FREE Preview Night beginning at 6pm! Then Wednesday, September 1st at 2:00 pm is the Opening of the 2010 Sullivan County Fair with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony!

The Fair will then run each day until Labor Day (September 6th), so come visit our stand there!

North Mountain Carnival

Come visit us and help support the North Mountain Volunteer Fire Dept. at their annual carnival at the carnival grounds in Central! We'll have a stand set up there each day that the carnival is going on!

The Carnival will be held tomorrow (August 7) and again next week on Thursday, August 12; Friday, August 13; and Saturday, August 14!

Heritage Days and Shop Closed for a day...

Unfortunately the Ol' Country Barn will be closed this coming Saturday, July 24th, 2010. Sorry for the inconvenience, but come out and see us at Heritage Days at the Benton Park. The shop will be open at 10 a.m. for our regular business hours on Sunday, July 25th, 2010.

We will also be setting up at the Benton Park in Benton, PA for Heritage Days this coming weekend. The hours are Saturday, July 24th 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday, July25th 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The theme this year is:
100 YEARS: Remembering the devastating FIRE of 1910. There will be activities happening all weekend long. Please stop by and enjoy the festival, friends, shopping, and great food! We hope to see you there!
